Glenburn Silver Needle

This rare White Tea is made at Glenburn midsummer over just a couple of days each year, when the silvery green buds are about to unfold.

Silver Needle is a world-famous Chinese white tea that is highly prized because it is made from only the whole young buds, requiring expert picking and delicate processing.

The experienced team creates Glenburn’s own silver needles, offering a unique and unusual Darjeeling white tea that rivals the Chinese original. The silvery velvety appearance comes from the fine white hairs on the underside of the leaf buds. Skilled tea pickers carefully maintain this texture, which gives the cup its delicate flavor. The liquid is very light, with delicate undertones and a refreshing finish.

About Glenburn

Glenburn Tea Estate is a heavenly little hideaway nestled in the hills on the banks of the River Rungeet, high in the Himalayas, overlooking the massive Kanchenjunga Mountains.

Founded in 1859 by a Scottish tea company, Glenburn was then taken over by Prakash, one of India's pioneering tea planting families. The Chaiwala family, literally means "tea plantation managers. The story of the Chaiwala family begins over 100 years ago and is closely related to the story of India's tea plantations. Today, the third and fourth generations of the Prakash family have tea knowledge inherited for nearly a century. They encourage you to visit Glenburn and experience the heritage.

Turning to winemaking, European vineyards and other wine-producing regions have invented the "farm" experience, inspired by the idea of visitors observing the wine-making process, tasting the wine, and purchasing wine, local crafts, and produce. The owners of Glenburn Tea Estate found the entire vineyard experience educational and very interesting, and were inspired to open their own tea garden for visitors who might be interested in learning how tea leaves affect a cup of tea. Glenburn Tea Estate welcomes you to visit our tea garden to taste Glenburn Tea and experience it in a new way.
