About Da Xue Shan Puer Tea (大雪山普洱茶)

The Da Xue Mountains are located northwest of Meng Ku Township, Shuangjiang County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, and are the birthplace of Yunnan big-leaf tea. In the middle and upper parts of the Da Xue Mountains, at an altitude of 2,200-2,750 m, in the difficult-to-reach primeval forests, there are some of the highest and densest wild and ancient tea tree communities, most of which are more than 1,000 years old. The wild ancient tea in Da Xue Mountain in Shuangjiang County was declared one of the tea tree origins by plant experts and tea experts from the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yunnan Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences Tea Research Institute and other scientific research departments.

Speaking of Puer tea, it must be said that "Meng Ku Big-leaf Tea, its variety is heroic" is a big-leaf tea from Meng Ku Township, Shuangjiang County, Yunnan Province. The Meng Ku big-leaf tea, with its tall-tree shape, extra-large leaves and early budding, is highly regarded in the tea industry; in 1984, the National Tea Variety Review and Approval Committee evaluated 30 tea varieties and Meng Ku Big-leaf Tea, Meng Hai Big-leaf Tea and Feng Qing Big-leaf Tea (勐库大叶茶、勐海大叶茶凤庆大叶茶) were included in the list.

The Yong De Da Xue Mountain Nature Reserve in Lincang City, Yunnan Province, was recently upgraded to a national nature reserve by the State Council. Yong De Da Xue Mountain Nature Reserve was established as a provincial nature reserve in 1986 with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, with a total area of 17,541 ha, the reserve is located in the southern extension of the Niu Shan mountain system of the Yong Du Mountains, its main peak is the highest peak near the Tropic of Cancer on the Chinese mainland, and is located in two major water systems, the Lan Cang River and the Zhu River watersheds. The main conservation targets are the natural ecosystem represented by the moist evergreen broad-leaved forests on the mountainsides and 64 rare endemic plant and animal species, including the black-crested gibbon (Yunnan Southwest Asian species), blue-headed peacock, Yunnan yew and magnolia. According to officials from the Lincang Forestry Department, after more than 10 years of management and protection, the Yongde Dasheshan Nature Reserve is said to have met the requirements for declaring a national nature reserve and has lasted for five years, implementing the expansion of the nature reserve, comprehensive scientific research, overall planning and design, and the declaration of a national nature reserve since 2002.
