About Goomtee
The history of Goomtee Tea Estate dates back to 1899 when English settler Henry Lennox established Goomtee.
Later, Mr. G.W.O'Brien took over the tea plantation, which was sold to the Ranas, a royal Nepalese family after World War II. In the mid-1950s, it was taken over by the Kejriwal family in partnership with Mahabir Prasad, and is now Ashok Kumar is the current owner.
The Goom Tea Estate is located in South Kurseong, east of the Jungpana Tea Estate and south of the Sivitar and Giddhapahar Tea Estate. It covers an area of 225 hectares, of which 110 hectares are under tea cultivation. Among the 87 tea estates in Darjeeling, there are only a few that can produce tea with a muscatel flavor, and the Goomtee Tea Estate is one of them.
