About Khongea
The Khongea Tea Estate was established in the late 19th century by two English women tea planters, but has been managed and owned by the Prakash family for over 50 years. It’s one of the Assam tea estates located on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River in the upper reaches of the Indian state of Assam.
Assam is the world's largest producer of black tea and produces an excellent breakfast tea that goes particularly well with milk and is highly regarded worldwide for its rich, full, robust flavour. The finest Assam teas produced in the second flush contain thick golden chips. Assam tea is ideal as a base for chai tea, or masala tea, as it is popularly known locally in India.
